How transparent is Concern?

Concern Worldwide UK is committed to being as transparent as possible. It’s important that people understand how we work and how the money we receive is spent.

Our vision and mission

Concern is a non-governmental, international, humanitarian organisation. Our mission is to help people living in extreme poverty in the world's poorest countries to transform their lives. We aim to achieve major improvements in their lives which last and spread without ongoing support from Concern. We do this by spending 87.4% of your donations on our overseas programmes.

Sources of income

Concern generates income from a variety of sources. They come in the form of grants, donated commodities, and voluntary donations.

Our partners

Concern recognises that in order to fight poverty we cannot work on our own. We work closely with effective partner agencies in many of the countries in which we work.

Accountability and transparency

Charities have to be accountable, transparent and effective. For the fifth successive year, in 2014 our annual report won the Published Accounts Awards for charities in Ireland. This is an important independent recognition of our financial reporting.

Our accounts are prepared annually in accordance with the charity SORP standard of accountability and transparency.

International certification

We're not just accountable to our donors but to our beneficiaries in some of the world’s poorest countries. In recognition of this, we have received certification from the Humanitarian Accountability Partnership and People in Aid.

This certification highlights the fact that Concern applies the highest international standards in all of its work.

Codes and policies

In our work, from how we deal with emergencies to how we fundraise, we're committed to following the best charity codes and practices.
