Fundraising tips on how to hit your target at the last minute

It’s the week of the London Marathon 2018 and with marathon training, work and all things in between you haven’t got around to all those amazing fundraising plans you had and panic is starting to set in…

Do not worry, help is at hand! We have a list of top tips for you to meet your target within these final few days before the marathon.

Get your workplace involved

Wear your running kit and Concern vest to work – remind everyone you are in the final stages of marathon training and of course fundraising. Leave a sponsor form in the tea room so your colleagues can easily donate. Pop your online fundraising link onto your email signature as an extra reminder.

Does your employer offer Match Funding? Now is the perfect time to have a conversation with your boss for a final fundraising boost.

 

Keep it simple

 

 

 

 

 

 

Simple fundraising ideas can also be the most effective.

Why not invite your friends over for a movie; have your pink ladies over for a Grease night, or get your fill of Bruce Willis in a Die Hard marathon. A twenty quid donation includes a spot on the sofa and an endless supply of popcorn.

Or go back to basics and fill a jar with sweets and charge per guess of how many there are. Whoever is closest gets to walk away with the goods. Top tip…be sure to count the sweets first!

Social media take over

On the day of the marathon update your social media followers with regular updates of your marathon race progress along with why you’re running for Concern and your online donation link throughout the day. Avoid an unnecessary phone related injury during the race and ask a friend to take over your social media with your updates using the Spectator Guide.

 

Post run hype, keep going

20% of donations come in after an event has ended, be sure to follow up the marathon with an update on how you did and re-share your fundraising page for anyone who didn’t get around to donating before the marathon day.

 

Why you’re fundraising

Most importantly, don’t forget why you’re fundraising. With every donation, you will be making a difference to vulnerable families and children across the world. Thank you.
