Four new stories from Burundi

02 September 2015

Concern Worldwide’s original focus in Burundi was humanitarian work in emergency contexts. Now we are equally engaged in long-term development issues such as health.

In the provinces of Kirundo and Cibitoke we work through multi-layered programmes that include activities around health, nutrition, social protection, resilience, education, disaster risk reduction and gender-based violence.

This newsletter profiles some of the Burundians that Concern works with across our programmes. We visit kitchen gardens, care groups and new homes to explore the impact that development programmes are having on health and livelihoods.

The implications of the recent political crisis in the country on development are also considered.
