Impact of Ebola “massive blow” to girls’ education and eliminating poverty says Concern

Marking International Women’s Day on Sunday 8 March, Concern Worldwide today called on the international aid community to focus attention on the growing number of girls not returning to education following the reopening of schools in Sierra Leone and Liberia.

Concern’s Equality Advisor Bernadette Crawford says:

It is becoming clear that large numbers of children, particularly girls, will not be returning to school, and this is a massive blow for their educational aspirations and for the future of the female population in those countries.
