Türkiye

Why are we in TürkiyeAs the situation in Syria deteriorated significantly during 2013 and a high volume of Syrians sought refuge in Türkiye, we conducted an assessment of the growing humanitarian needs and commenced our activities in May 2013.

Moreover, following the devastating earthquake that struck Türkiye on February 6th 2023, Concern Worldwide immediately put an emergency response in place in order to help as many people as possible affected by the disaster.

Over 3.7 million Syrians have sought refuge in Türkiye

There are over 3.7 million Syrians living in Türkiye who are provided with temporary protection by the Government of Türkiye. A small percentage of Syrians (1.2%) are living in government-run camps, with the remainder living in urban and rural areas across the country.

The protracted nature of the Syrian crisis has given rise to a need to find longer-term solutions for Syrians in Türkiye and host populations. In doing so, we are increasingly working with local and national level government authorities to provide assistance to Syrian refugees and the host population through education, livelihoods and protection activities.
