What is the Water for Gaza Appeal?

The people of Northern Ireland have always stood with communities around the world in times of crisis. Let’s show that same compassion and solidarity now for the people of Gaza and help save lives.

We are calling on organisations, businesses and institutions in Northern Ireland to help raise £250,000 in just 12 weeks for our Water for Gaza Appeal to provide life-saving access to clean drinking water, and further supporting communities  by rehabilitating sanitation and hygiene facilities.

A collective call to action

Together, we can provide safe, clean water and sanitation support for three months to up to 21,000 people desperately in need in Gaza City and other parts of Gaza.

Why now?

Lack of access to clean water is contributing further to deaths that are 100% preventable. Nine out of 10 people in Gaza no longer have access to safe drinking water. Famine has now been confirmed in Gaza City, and people are dying from dehydration and disease. Almost one in every three children under the age of five is suffering acute malnutrition. Hospitals are overwhelmed, and basic sanitation has broken down. We cannot wait any longer. Now is the time to help save lives.

Concern’s impact in Gaza

Right now, Concern Worldwide is working with our trusted partners on the ground to deliver critical water, sanitation, and hygiene support across Gaza. Even with restrictions in place, we are successfully trucking thousands of litres of clean water daily to vulnerable communities facing severe shortages. We have also installed a life-saving water filtration system in Gaza City’s only functioning children’s hospital, ensuring continuous access to clean and safe water for medical treatments and daily care to up to 350 patients every day. This vital intervention is already reducing infection risks and saving lives, demonstrating the effectiveness and urgency of scaling up these vital water services across the region.
