Become a Concern Ambassador

Could you become a Concern Ambassador?

If you are passionate about tackling global hunger and enjoy motivating people to act locally in small and big ways, we want to hear from you.

We’re currently looking for 15 inspiring volunteers from across Northern Ireland to become Concern Ambassadors in their local communities. We only ask that you're comfortable speaking in public and that you're passionate about the work of Concern Worldwide.

How do Concern Ambassadors help to tackle hunger?

Our Concern Ambassadors play a vital role in raising awareness of the chronic problem that is global hunger. By inspiring support for Concern’s work tackling hunger, they can help to transform the lives of people living in some of the world’s poorest communities.

Concern Ambassadors use their community knowledge and local networks to motivate people young and old by delivering a specially created audio-visual presentation to local audiences ranging from schools and churches to clubs and businesses.

And, Concern’s Community Team will be there to support you every step of the way. We will provide you with presentation training and all the resources you need to take up this new challenge.

What you will gain from being an Ambassador?

This is a great opportunity to meet new people and develop your presentation, public speaking and organisational skills. You will also be directly helping to tackle hunger and transform the lives of families living in extreme poverty by inspiring members of your local community to take action and support the work of Concern.

What is the time commitment?

As you will be arranging your own talks, this is a flexible role that you can fit around your busy schedule. Ideally we do ask that volunteer ambassadors give at least five talks per year and a minimum of one year of talks – this is because of the training, support and resources we provide.

What do I need to be a Concern Ambassador?

If you are currently resident in Northern Ireland, have good connections in your community and the motivation to reach out and arrange your own talks, then this is the role for you.

The application form is now available – we are welcoming applications from all backgrounds, but you must be at least 18 years of age to apply.

When will Concern Ambassadors begin their role?

1 August 2016: Ambassador applications open

28th September 2016: Ambassador application deadline

3-7th October: Concern’s team will meet all Ambassador applicants in person

12-13 November 2016: Ambassadors residential training event
