Following an extensive recruitment process the Board of Concern Worldwide announced today the appointment of Accenture senior executive, David Regan, as its new global Chief Executive Officer.

David served as a volunteer with Concern Worldwide in Ethiopia in the mid-1980’s and subsequently served on the Board of Concern Worldwide. David was elected as Chair of the Concern Worldwide Board and in more recent years also served as a member of the Board’s Programme, Monitoring and Evaluation committee.

He has worked with Accenture for 33 years and is a Managing Director working primarily with public sector clients globally. Regan will take up his role with Concern Worldwide in December this year.

Announcing the appointment, Chair of Concern Worldwide’s Board, Donal D’Arcy said: “With a wealth of relevant experience, David has worked across many different countries and cultures and is widely respected for his leadership, commitment and professionalism. His experience with Accenture’s public sector clients around the world includes organisational strategy and transformation and major technology programmes.

“David is passionately committed to social justice, to ending global hunger and poverty and has retained a strong interest and long involvement in development and humanitarian work. Most recently David travelled to Malawi as part of Accenture’s support for Concern’s Conservation Agriculture projects there.”

Last year Concern helped 39 million people in 24 of the world’s poorest countries. It spent €217 million on emergency, livelihoods, health, nutrition and education programming as well as development education and advocacy. The organisation has 4,500 staff worldwide. David Regan will oversee and strategically manage the organisation ensuring it is as effective as possible in delivering on its mission to end extreme poverty.

David will conclude his role with Accenture over the coming months and is expected to take over from the outgoing CEO Dominic MacSorley in December.

Concern Worldwide (UK) is an integral part of Concern Worldwide and operates as its subsidiary. The Executive Director of Concern Worldwide (UK) has a dual reporting line to the Board of Concern Worldwide (UK) and the Chief Executive of Concern Worldwide and forms part of the Concern Group senior management team.
