Other

We believe no one should live in fear that they won't have enough food to feed their children.

We work in some of the world’s poorest countries where conflict and climate change are reducing people’s ability to grow or buy enough nutritious food. Countries where, as a result, thousands of children under five die every day due to malnourishment.

We work to ensure mums and babies get the food, water, nutrition and healthcare they need to recover from malnourishment and stay strong and healthy in the long term. As well as providing emergency food to mums and babies, we work with communities to ensure that the critical signs of malnutrition and childhood illness are spotted early on, making them easier to treat.

Thousands of children are suffering long periods of hunger with families eating only once a day or not at all. Even one child suffering from malnutrition is unacceptable.

Help us reach more children like Salouhou

I’m very happy to have the support of the nutrition centre. I don’t know what I would do without it.
Rouaya - Salouhou's mum, Niger

This was the case for Rouaya and her five children. They live in one of the world's poorest countries Niger, where 400,000 children are severely malnourished.

Rouaya’s youngest, one-year-old Salouhou, was severely malnourished, weighing only 6 kilograms, almost half the weight of a healthy child his age.

He was taken to his nearest Concern health centre, where health workers were able to diagnose Salouhou and provide life-saving emergency food.

With your support, we can help more children like Salouhou.

Where your money goes

Your donation will go towards providing emergency food and screening for malnutrition of children in Niger, and could help children in the long-term by providing their families with cash transfers for food and medicine, or providing seeds and tools so mothers can grow nutritious crops to feed their families. And as part of our Free from Hunger appeal, if you give before 24 December 2019 your donation will be doubled by the UK government. This matched funding will go towards our work to improve the health and nutrition of mothers and children under five in the Central African Republic, where poor nutrition has led to the country being ranked as the world’s hungriest.
