The 'Evaluation of the Impact of Cash Transfers on Household Food and Nutrition Security' report was developed as part of the project 'Support for Household Food and Nutrition Security in Tahoua (Niger)', financed by the European Commission Humanitarian Aid Office (ECHO).

The project aimed to (1) provide food assistance to vulnerable areas not covered by the response of the national system, (2) provide institutional support to disaster preparedness and (3) set up a simple and autonomous vulnerability monitoring system.
This included strengthening the capacity of 2,500 households to deal with food crises and prevent malnutrition through monetary transfers extended over six months. The cash transfer approaches differed from standard country approaches in 1) their duration, 2) their combination with other productive inputs and 3) the period over which they were implemented.
This paper explores the results of the cash transfers, including key conclusions on the use of Cash Plus approach for the anticipatory cash responses.
