Concern Worldwide is currently implementing a flood resilience project in Bangladesh. It is funded by the Zurich Foundation as part of the Zurich Climate Resilience Alliance (ZCRA) project (formerly known as the Zurich Flood Resilience Alliance).

The ZCRA is a multi-sectoral partnership focused on finding practical ways to enhance resilience to climate hazards in both rural and urban communities.

One of the communities faced with the climate risk of flooding is Gaibandha District in Bangladesh.

For decades, annual floods have taken a heavy toll on livelihoods, claiming shelters, schools, houses and acres of crops and farmland. Working with communities, local Community
Resilience Action Groups (CRAGs) and the government, Concern identified that a nature-based solutions (NBS) approach could be an effective solution to control canal and riverbank erosion.

This solutions brief shares practical and replicable local knowledge of this approach in order to increase resilience.
