Through to 2 helps support mothers and babies around the world including in the most challenging circumstances. That’s mothers like Esperance in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and her baby Patricia.
A healthy birth and raising a child can be challenging in any circumstance. For Esperance, displaced from her home in Mambasa due to conflict while pregnant with Patricia, leaving behind her belongings and livelihood made this as even greater challenge.

At a local health centre, Esperance was given the support needed to ensure a healthy birth. This included post-natal checks as well as training sessions on signs of risk, nutrition and breastfeeding to ensure Patricia remained healthy.
At the clinic, she also received a delivery kit containing clothes, essential hygiene items like soap as well maternity pads and nappies thanks to programme led by Concern.

"When I saw these things, I was very happy. It was so important that everything was free of charge as I didn’t have money for the delivery and finding money for a caesarean delivery is not easy. Today, we are fine."
The support given to Esperance and Patricia ensures babies like Patricia have the foundations necessary to make it through to two, the most important years in a child’s life.
This is only possible thanks to supporters like our Through to 2 community. You can help more families like Esperance’s by starting your Through to 2 regular donation today.
