The power of breastmilk is an extraordinary tool in our fight against inequality, poverty and hunger.

Did you know that breastfed children have a six times greater chance of survival in their early months and a lower chance of becoming malnourished later in life?

Breastfeeding can significantly improve the health and development of newborns and young children and the health and well-being of mums. That’s why we encourage mums in the countries where we work to exclusively breastfeed their children for the first six months of life.

Find out how much you know about breastfeeding with our quick quiz:

Helping mums access care, support and advice about how to keep their children healthy in their all-important first 1,000 days of life is a really important part of our Through to 2 project.

And in situations where breastfeeding isn’t suitable for mums and their babies, we help mums using formula milk to understand the importance of clean water and hygienic practices so their young family stays as healthy as possible.
