Concern Worldwide warns of the impact of UK aid cuts in Sudan

As conflict in Sudan continues, Anushree Rao, Director of Advocacy and Institutional Relationships at Concern Worldwide (UK) says:
"We are now seeing the real-life impacts of the UK aid cuts in Sudan. Millions of people in Sudan are experiencing catastrophic levels of hunger, violence, and displacement after over two years of conflict. Without urgent action now and the highest political will from the UK government and others, we will witness shocking levels of loss of life.
The recent announcement of £5 million of funding from the UK government for life-saving support in Sudan is only a band-aid solution. We need to see urgent diplomacy to end all hostilities and protect civilians, alongside a scale up of humanitarian assistance and access. As a pen holder on Sudan at the UN Security Council, the UK must play a crucial role in driving this."
Concern continues to deliver essential assistance in Sudan, including emergency healthcare, cholera response prevention, nutrition programming, WASH, livelihoods support, food assistance through cash, hygiene and shelter non-food items, and multi-purpose cash assistance.
