In the face of one of Europe’s largest emergencies in recent history, Concern Worldwide and Welthungerhilfe came together to do something previously untried for their organisations: we established a single, unified country mission under a joint structure, pooling systems, funding, staff, management oversight, and strategic decision-making.

This evaluation assesses the DEC-funded earthquake response in Myanmar. The project provided multipurpose cash assistance (MPCA) to earthquake-affected communities in a highly complex operating environment characterised by ongoing conflict, political instability, and severe access constraints.

In the southern District of Nsanje, Malawi, communities are establishing banana plantations to serve as both sources of food and income, as well as enhancing the resilience of farmers and their families against the adverse effects of climate shocks, such as droughts and heavy rain.

The BRCiS consortium works to create sustainable, community-led solutions that enhance long-term resilience and reduce dependency on emergency aid in Somalia. 

In Tonkolili District, Concern has significantly contributed to the development, and set the foundation for improved coordination and governance within the District Development Coordination Committee (DDCC) framework. 

The EAST Consortium aims to support over 430,000 individuals including 65,000 people living with disabilities across the four most conflict affect provinces of DR Congo.

In 2024, Concern supported 350 households to restore and diversify economic activities, improving their capacity to build more resilient livelihoods as part of the Irish Aid’s Chronic Humanitarian Crisis (CHC) funding stream.

For several years Concern has engaged with universities in Ireland and abroad to work with Masters students as they expand their understanding of development and humanitarian issues, particularly as they research and write their Masters dissertation. This provides Masters students with the opportunity to gain an insight into Concern’s work and to access data for their research.
