This Valentine’s Day meet three couples who have worked with Concern to transform their families’ lives.

Concern Worldwide teams are supporting communities in Kenya, Somalia and Ethiopia experiencing a severe drought – driven by climate change – which is causing widespread hardship for millions of people.

We revisited the families we spoke to at the beginning of the Green Graduation programme in 2023, to learn how they’ve been able to use the skills and resources they’ve gained to make positive changes in their lives.   

In communities where conflict and poverty have left many people without a home, warm clothes or the ability to afford heating, winter becomes a season of harsh challenges. 

Sudan is currently experiencing the world’s largest humanitarian crisis with over 30.4 million people in need of humanitarian assistance and 9.6 million forced from their homes because of the fighting which erupted in April, 2023.  

Concern Worldwide has cautiously welcomed the agreement reached at COP30 in Brazil at the weekend, but warned that the commitment on climate adaptation finance needs to be urgently implemented to support lower-income countries currently facing the full brunt of climate change.

Without urgent action now, we will witness shocking levels of loss of life.

Lower income countries are experiencing the escalating impact of climate change and need support from global leaders.

In Rwanda, Concern has been working with families to reduce both hunger and poverty by providing them with the skills and resources to increase their harvests.
